Women of Cincy Gift Guide: Winter 2020

lucca_in_store-106.jpg

I think it’s fair to say 2020 didn’t pan out how we were expecting. But the holidays will be arriving soon, and like most things this year, they’ll look different. Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Festivus will be over Zoom, through the mail, and socially distanced. However you’re celebrating this year, the act of giving – to loved ones and yourself – is as important as ever.

Here at Women of Cincy, we believe where you spend your dollar matters – make sure you’re also giving back to our community by supporting local, women-owned businesses, including those featured on this list and in our past gift guides. Our city has so much to offer, and after a particularly difficult financial year, let’s give a little love to it this season.

Gumdrop

You’ve heard of the Covington staple shop, Handzy, but did you know Handzy founders and owners Brittney Braemer and Suzy Hinnefeld recently opened a new shop? Gumdrop is Handzy for little humans – a cuddly, cozy, candy-colored toy store. Whether you’re buying toys to go under the tree, gifts for nieces and nephews, or heading to a baby shower, Gumdrop is sugar-coated with cuteness.

Let’s not beat around the bush – this has been an awful year for mental health. Depression and anxiety are on the rise, add in the added stress of the holidays, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. So, reader, take a little time for yourself! Forget the gloomy winter weather, and let a little sun into your life. Hello Sunshine Yoga Studio offers both virtual and in-studio yoga classes so you can reclaim your mindfulness and find a little peace – is there a better gift than that?

Minor Obsession

Since March, we’ve all been diligently washing our hands (for at least 20 seconds!) to get rid of those nasty germs. But let’s be real all this washing, plus the dry and chilly air, is wreaking havoc on my hands. Thankfully, Courtney Lawrence, founder of Minor Obsession, is looking out for all of us and our skincare needs. Her bar soaps are made of natural oils, clays, and botanicals, without the damaging synthetics, leaving your skin soft and supple.
