Sex Talk with Emma: A New Era

It’s been a long time, I know. I didn’t mean to abandon you and your sex talk needs, but there have been a few changes like every aspect of life in 2020. Women of Cincy is such a groovy group – the insight, thoughtfulness, integrity in these women is so real. We have been brainstorming ways to transition the topic of sex education into a local community conversation.

I’m very excited about this new endeavor with all of you – yes, you!

Moving forward, I will be focusing more on individual topics that encompass sexual education as a whole: relationships, horror and success stories, L.G.B.T.Q.I.A. relationships, conversations with local sex therapists, sex toy information, break-ups (oh baby, let’s TALK about break-ups), etc.

And I want to hear from you! I want questions so that I can provide the answers. Being a librarian is not all about research; it’s also about getting out into the community and providing needed services.

Now, Cincinnati is a mid-size (small) city – it’s a place where everyone knows everyone. As such, your questions, comments, concerns, stories (O.M.G I cannot wait to hear your stories!) will stay anonymous. Think of it as a ‘Dear Abby’ but with more sex.

We have been on an open and honest journey together. I learned so much from writing and reading for the Sex Talk: By the Book column – and you can look back on those for reference to the basics in sex-ed. I’m excited to move on to the hard-hitting questions, serious topics, fun stories, and some interviews along the way.

This new project will be published every other month to give you some time to send in your questions, and so they can be processed by the Women of Cincy team and me. Look out for our next chat in November!

For the first round, let’s talk about Love in the Time of Covid – what has it been like for y’all out there? How have you been fulfilling your needs during this unprecedented time? Do you have any questions about relationships during quarantine?

Submit your questions, stories, comments about your quarantine relationship journey! Remember, this is all for love, information sharing, and normalizing sex (especially women’s sexual relationships), so be as open with me as you can – but don’t fret, I got you!

X.O.,

Emma
