Staring Slavery in the Face: In Libya and Beyond

  • National Underground Railroad Freedom Center 50 East Freedom Way Cincinnati, OH, 45202 United States (map)

Much of our news feeds have been filled recently with horrific images and information about humans being sold in slave auctions in Libya. Lisa Kristine, I AM Campaign, and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center have come together to create a one day symposium on combating modern day slavery and the illicit networks that sustain it.

This symposium is part of a series of local efforts seeking to create a more robust sense of awareness during National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Returning to Cincinnati to deliver our closing keynote address, after jaw dropping reviews for her exhibit, ENSLAVED: A Visual Story of Modern Day Slavery, Lisa Kristine will use powerful imagery coupled with intimate portrayals to raise awareness of modern slavery.

The day will consist of the following:

  • A trauma-informed yoga session (optional)
  • General Admission to the Freedom Center (for symposium registrants)
  • Panel Discussions
  • Break-Out Roundtables
  • A Closing Keynote by Lisa Kristine with Reception
