For most girls, a period is their first experience with their sexual health and unfortunately - for most - it is embarrassing and uncomfortable. Lady’s Sparrow Foundation wants to break the cycle of embarrassing cycles (see what we did there?) and instead, create a platform to educate and empower.
In fact, we think periods are pretty awesome! The Period Pop-Up Shop, sponsored by St. Elizabeth Healthcare, will open Saturday, November 11th thru Sunday, November 12th, in major cities across the US. Not only is this a fun event for women (and any boyfriend/husband that gets pulled in the door!) but more importantly it gives moms and single dads a way to teach and prepare their young girls for their periods minus the awkward talk. Parents and girls will find an upbeat, colorful environment to ease the burden of discussing this often taboo topic.
The Period Pop-Up Shop will have anything and everything a girl could ever want for her period. Tampons and pads, sweets, t-shirts, yoga, and pampering. We are preparing girls to tackle this life changing event head on! The event will also serve as a fundraiser to help women who suffer from sexual pain disorders. Insurance typically does not cover these types of illnesses, and Lady’s Sparrow Foundation wants to be a resource in their time of need.
