This event is sold out. Join us for conversation and drinks at Horse and Barrel afterwards!
What is cultural competency? Why is it so important? And how can we be better advocates and allies for the LGBTQ+ community by developing cultural competency?
Join Women of Cincy for an interactive cultural competency workshop to find the answers to these and other questions from two fantastic women! Learn how to speak more comfortably and provide improved support for the LGBTQ+ community with GLSEN Certified trainers Melissa Meyer from Lighthouse Youth Services and Emma Heinemann, LGBTQ Youth Advocate at Public Allies.
You are welcome and encouraged to join us whether you are familiar and confident with your ally-ship, or just beginning your journey with the LGBTQ+ and ally community!
The workshop will take place on June 9 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the main branch of the Cincinnati Public Library in Room 3B. You can expect to laugh, learn, and be challenged, all over light refreshments with amazing people. The planned activities are sure to add perspective and fun to your afternoon!
Please bring a cash donation or donate an item for the Lighthouse Youth Services Street Outreach program, such as socks, undergarments, deodorant, or feminine hygiene products.
Want to continue the conversation? Attendees are welcomed to move their talks to Horse and Barrel over happy hour drinks after the workshop.
