Women of Cincy Seeks Editorial, Social Media + Graphic Design Residents

Women of Cincy Collective, LLC, a social enterprise dedicated to celebrating and empowering incredible local women, is accepting applications for summer editorial, social media, and graphic design residents. Applicants should be detail-oriented self-starters with a passion for both excellent work and the Cincinnati community. These positions are unpaid, except in glowing references and the chance to build community with a group of amazing Cincinnatians.

Details for each position are listed below. The residencies will span the summer semester with flexible dates per the student’s schedule; residents are welcome to reapply to extend their stay through the fall semester, as well.

Editorial Residents

2 positions available
10 hours/week onsite at Union Hall in Over-the-Rhine
5 hours/week working remotely or attending events

  • Fact-check and edit daily content

  • Write content such as weekly news roundups, event coverage, and more

  • Post to social media weekly

  • Brainstorm ideas and help managing director consider and research new projects

  • Various administrative tasks that include website maintenance, organizing contact info, and more

  • Participate in other Women of Cincy teams as desired i.e. podcast, events, marketing

  • Manage and create an independent capstone project of your choosing, such as an interview series, creative piece, oral history, etc.

Social Media Resident

1 position available
10 hours/week onsite at Union Hall in Over-the-Rhine
5 hours/week working remotely or attending events

  • Generate and post social media content

  • Assist social media director in maintaining the quality of posts written by the social media team

  • Grow and interact with social media communities through all social media platforms

  • Assist social media director in maintaining the social media calendar via Airtable and scheduling posts in Buffer

  • Work with editorial team to research relevant accounts and hashtags for new editorial content

  • Attend internal and public events and post to Instagram story

  • Participate in other Women of Cincy teams as desired, i.e. podcast, events, editorial

  • Capstone project: Assist management team in the creation and implementation of a large-scale brand campaign

Graphic Design Resident

1 position available
6 hours/week onsite at Union Hall in Over-the-Rhine
2-4 hours/week working remotely

Requirements:

  • Have at least 3 years of design school completed

  • Be proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign

  • Have your own computer and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Photography skills are a plus, but not required

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create typesets and graphics for social media posts and newsletters

  • Design collateral for upcoming events

  • Build posts for the Women of Cincy site

  • Create identities for new Women of Cincy initiatives

  • Lead the design of a large-scale project working alongside the creative director to brainstorm, design, and execute
